RichardBending 1758/11/28   ..till the 28th, when the weather became very foggy and tempestuous, the next morning found themselves close with the coast of Barbary...the whole fleet with some difficulty weatherd the land. The Litchfield, of 50 guns, and one of the transports were not so fortunate-they were forced ashore and lost. 130 of the crew perished, the survivors were taken in captivity until a ransome of 170000 dollars was paid

George JesseBending 1914/ 9/22 Dogger Bank - ..just before 6.30 a.m. there was a violent explosion under the Aboukir....the Hogue was at hand to give what help it could..when it was struck by two torpedoes..in ten minutes she went down. The Cressey gave assistance and was struck by two torpedoes...she turned over on her beam ends and sunk aftera quarter of an hour. All her boats were away with survivors from the other two ships...60 officers and 1400 men were drowned(see also Raiders of the Deep)
